Below are photos taken in November, 2006 during a trip to Arizona and Southern
California where we shopped for glass only parts of 4 days. We probably went to about 20 shops altogether some of which had no glass whatsoever.  And this is not nearly all the cases of purple EAPG we saw. I didn't have my camera with me all the time.  But it will give those who have not experienced seeing case after case after shelf of pattern glass that has been purposely turned purple.  These are not pieces that someone's Granny left in a sunny window. They are much darker color than can be achieved with window exposure over several years. A friend (and EAPG Society member) told us that he recently attended an antiques Show in California and saw over 600 pieces of 'sun purple' pattern glass at the Show.

PLEASE SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

This is what one of those pink signs
on the case says.

DON'T STOP - KEEP SCROLLING
The above deep purple EAPG is different from "sun purple".  It had probably been
irradiated with X-Rays -
we've not sure how exactly, but it was shocking to see how much this
technique is now in use to alter the color of pattern & other glass.

REMEMBER, THESE CASES WERE ALL SEEN IN 4 PARTIAL DAYS OF SHOPPING & I DIDN'T HAVE MY CAMERA TO PHOTOGRAPH ALL OF THEM  11/06
